Competencies for University Professors, Preservice Teachers and Teachers to Demonstrate Proficiency in Technology Use

The Office of Educational Technology recommended that teacher education programs develop a set of technology competency expectations for university professors and preservice teachers exiting a teacher education program that demonstrates they are proficient in technology use and integration. Using the roles and practices the Office of Educational Technology has developed for teachers, we came up with the following guidelines that can be used to help university professors and future teachers determine whether they are proficient in the area of technology use and create an action plan for the areas where they may want to develop and concentrate on.
